sonofabitch deville, that's my cadillac baby,
& i took the top off & i'm riding my sonofabitch deville

I think I know why I treat you like this...because you asked and I deliver, because daybreak came and the dogs ran wild and the women came out with their teeth well filed and I saw that noose around that guy from City Bank's neck but I didn't bother to cut him down because I was just too busy waiting around...
Part I
Part II
Part III
Fade to smoke.

here's to here's to here's to your health

Nerve City is a lo-fi outfit from Richmond, VA. Their brand of fuzzy, lo-fi/rocknroll/psychedelia is both extremely catchy and haunting at times (particularly the song Riverboat...a personal favorite).
Released in 2007 on Amateur Depression records, a label that, along with a handful of others I recently stumbled upon sometime before the new year, has won my approval and restored some of my enthusiasm.
If this makes you as moist as it made me then check out the rest of their discography...you will not be disappointed. They currently have a new 7" out, released towards the end of 2009 I believe, called RED TOPS on HoZac. Dig.

Blank Dogs is one-man band from Brooklyn who apparently holds himself up in a bedroom and cranks out a progressive abundance of synthed-out/lo-fi/darkwave-ish/pop tunes for me to fall in love with and fall in love to. Remember what I said about Nerve City earlier? Well the same goes for this guy's music...both extremely catchy and haunting. I couldn't decide which of his records to put up at first (there's plenty) and finally decided on this one as I've currently been listening to it the most (the song "Crystal Ladies" is a personal favorite on this one). Out as of 2008 on Troubleman Unlimited/Fuck It Tapes.

This is Year One.
Here's a couple slices of love. I can't believe you came.

When he was 14, shooting the shit with composer John Cage, Gary took some advice that made him rehash his approach to music. The advice Cage gave him is that if your music "doesn’t irritate people, you aren’t doing your job." Some 7 or 8 years later he produced this gem. Here we see an awkward blend of teenage lust/depression, experimental lounge music, and a young man quite possibly going batshit insane while recording in his parent's basement. (After deciding that Al Grossman's studio in Woodstock wasn't working out, no less.)
The first listen might throw you off a little as the record tends to be, for most people, awkward on the first spin. After a few listens you should start to realize something like "Holy fuck...a genius."
This...I'm not even going to say anything about this. Just find it, set aside some 2.5 hours, and prepare yourself for mental rape. If anyone can find me a good torrent/link to this please send. I think you can also watch the whole movie on YouTube if you're into that...I'm not.
